nGMS Contract Getting it Right
Seminar Details
Number of delegates per course - Dependant upon suitability of venue, not usually more than 30
Duration - Half-day 3 hours 2 sessions per day - a.m. and p.m. (Minimum 1 full day 2 sessions)
Pre-requisites - None knowledge of Primary Care/systems is preferable.
The course is designed for those members of staff who have a responsibility for implementing and/or monitoring the new GMS Contract. Also useful for those recording and/or using primary care information such as, data
entry/administration staff, practice nurses, GPs, those with a responsibility for undertaking clinical audit, and PCT staff. A degree of clinical terminology skills is preferable.
Facilities required - Training room of sufficient size to comfortably accommodate number of delegates for seminar style presentation and use of PCs.
Equipment - Projection screen provided by organising authority
Style - Seminar style and practical session
Content - The aim of the course is to assist with the day to day management of the Quality and Outcomes Framework of the GMS contract. It is based upon a thorough understanding of the key issues for success in patient care and maximising financial reward. Delegates are encouraged throughout the sessions to ask specific questions and therefore share both problems and potential solutions with each other.
Areas covered include:
· Registers to include or exclude!
· Accuracy of Registers
· What to include / exclude
· How and what to code
· Frequency of recording
· Exceptions
· Use of IT to ease the job
· Action planning
· Pitfalls
· Any other specific questions raised by delegates
